This combined Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Refund Policy applies to our website at https://pipwords.site and to the PipWords mobile app on iOS and Android.

Description of Product and Service

PipWords: AI Word Camera is an educational app for learning English vocabulary from real objects. You point your phone camera at an object; artificial intelligence identifies it and returns a word card containing a cut-out picture of that object, the English word, its IPA pronunciation, audio, and a translation in your chosen language. Collected words then feed a learning game with daily quests, mini-games, spaced-repetition review, and boss challenges.

The app interface is available in 12 languages, including Arabic with full right-to-left layout, Spanish, and Portuguese. Word translations are available in 17 languages. PipWords contains no advertising, no third-party marketing trackers, no chat, and no user-to-user messaging.

Features Included with Purchase

PipWords is free to download and free to use every day within set limits. PipWords PRO is an optional subscription that unlocks the full content:

• Free: a set number of camera captures each day (currently 5), part of the daily quest trail, and the first boss challenge.

• PRO: every land on the quest road, every boss challenge, all mini-games, the full daily quest trail, lessons, and bedtime stories.

• No advertising in either tier.

Deliverables are digital only: word cards and learning content generated inside the app. There are no physical products.

Pricing

PipWords PRO is offered as an auto-renewing subscription, available in monthly and yearly periods. The exact price is shown in the app in your own currency before you confirm any purchase, and prices vary by country. Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we never handle your card details. Where a free trial is offered (currently 3 days), it converts to a paid subscription automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours beforehand. You can cancel at any time in your device’s subscription settings.

Privacy Policy

The short version: PipWords works without an account. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth. Photographs you take are sent to our AI providers so the object can be recognised and cut out; we do not keep a gallery of them. We do not sell personal data, and we show no advertising.

1. Information We Collect

Photographs and images. When you capture an object, that photograph is transmitted to our AI providers to identify the object and separate it from its background. The resulting sticker and word card are stored on your device. We do not operate a photo library of user images and we do not review your photographs.

Voice recordings. If you use pronunciation practice, a short audio recording is transmitted to a speech-recognition provider so your attempt can be scored. It is used for that check only.

Text for translation. The word being learned is sent to a translation provider to produce its meaning in your chosen language.

Learning data. Your collected words, review history, XP, level, streak, Pip’s growth, and settings are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.

Anonymous leaderboard entry. If you use the leaderboard, your device sends a small record to our database: a randomly generated identifier, an automatically generated nickname (for example “Clever Dolphin”), your selected language, your XP totals, and your Pip stage, with a timestamp. It contains no real name, no email address, no photograph, and no location.

Purchase information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google and managed through RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of subscription status and an anonymous purchaser identifier. We never receive or store payment card details.

Technical information. Our providers necessarily process technical data such as device type, operating system and app version, approximate region derived from the network, and IP address, in order to return a result and protect against abuse.

What we do not collect: no account registration, no contact details, no address book or contacts, no precise GPS location, no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics or marketing SDKs inside the app, and no behavioural profiles for advertising.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To identify the object in your photograph and build the word card.

• To translate words into your chosen language and to check pronunciation attempts.

• To schedule review of the words you have learned, and to run quests, games, and boss challenges.

• To show an anonymous leaderboard position, where that feature is used.

• To verify subscription status and to answer you when you contact support.

• To diagnose faults and improve the app’s accuracy and stability.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.

3. Notifications

Reminders in PipWords are scheduled on your own device. We do not operate a push-notification server and do not collect push tokens, so no notification is sent remotely by us. You can turn reminders off in the app or in your device settings.

4. Information Sharing and Third-Party Services

We use a small number of specialist providers to make the app work. They process data on our instructions, for the purposes described above:

• OpenRouter — object recognition from your photograph, translation, and speech transcription.

• WaveSpeed AI and Replicate — separating the photographed object from its background to create the sticker, and speech processing.

• kie.ai — translation processing.

• Supabase — hosting the anonymous leaderboard database.

• RevenueCat, with Apple and Google — subscription processing and validation.

• Hostinger and Google Analytics — hosting and audience measurement for this website only, not inside the app.

Each provider operates under its own privacy policy and retention practices. We instruct them to process your content only to return the result the app needs. We otherwise disclose information only where the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of users.

5. Data Retention

Your words, cards, progress, and settings stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Photographs and audio are transmitted for processing and are not retained by us afterwards. An anonymous leaderboard entry stays until you ask us to delete it. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your question.

6. Children’s Privacy

PipWords is made for family use, and children are expected to be among its users. It is built so that a child cannot disclose personal information through it: there is no registration, no profile, no chat, no user-to-user messaging, no advertising, and no social feed. The leaderboard nickname is generated automatically and cannot be edited into a real name.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app uses a camera, parents and guardians should supervise younger children and explain that they should photograph objects rather than people. Purchases require the account holder’s store credentials and should be made by an adult; in-app purchases can be disabled in your device’s parental controls.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information — for example by sending an email — write to support@pipwords.site and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because PipWords holds almost nothing that identifies you, most of these are straightforward:

• Delete app data: delete the app. Everything stored locally goes with it.

• Delete your leaderboard entry: email support@pipwords.site and ask. No account or proof of identity is needed, because the entry holds no personal details.

• Any other request: email us and we will respond within the period your local law requires.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in California law.

8. Data Security

Data in transit is protected with industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS), and our providers are established services with their own security programmes. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Data Transfers

Our providers operate globally, so information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

10. Cookies

This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site. The mobile app uses no cookies and no advertising identifiers. You can block cookies in your browser settings without losing access to the site.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using PipWords, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. If you are under the age of majority where you live, an adult must agree on your behalf and supervise your use.

2. Description of Service

PipWords provides AI-assisted vocabulary learning as described above. Because recognition and translation are produced by artificial intelligence, results are not guaranteed to be accurate: objects can be misidentified and translations can be imperfect. PipWords is a learning aid and should not be relied upon where accuracy is critical.

Naming an object requires an internet connection. Features, content, limits, and prices may change as the app develops.

3. No Account Required

PipWords works without registration. Because there is no account, your collection and progress are tied to the device and are not automatically transferred if you change or reset your device, or delete the app. Your subscription can be restored on a new device using the same store account.

4. Subscription and Billing

PipWords PRO is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The price and billing period are shown in the app, in your local currency, before you confirm.

• Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account when you confirm the purchase.

• A subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period.

• You manage and cancel subscriptions in your own store account settings, not through us.

5. Free Trial

Where a free trial is offered (currently 3 days) , it converts into a paid subscription automatically at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased. Trials are normally limited to one per store account.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to photograph people without their consent, submit unlawful or harmful content, attempt to reverse-engineer or disrupt the app, use it to build a competing dataset or service, or circumvent usage limits and payment mechanisms. We may restrict access where these terms are breached.

7. Content Ownership and Intellectual Property

You keep ownership of the photographs you take. You grant us only the limited permission needed to process an image so the app can return a word card. Word cards you create are yours to keep and to share personally; shared cards contain only the cut-out object, never the original photograph or its background.

The app itself — including the PipWords name, the character Pip, the artwork, the boss characters, the written lessons, stories, and question banks — is our intellectual property and may not be copied or redistributed.

8. Disclaimers

PipWords is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that recognition or translation will be accurate, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of PipWords is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and your consumer rights under local law are unaffected.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms as the app develops. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms; the effective date at the top shows when they last changed.

Refund Policy

Refunds are handled by Apple and Google, because they process the payment. We cannot issue a refund directly, but we will help you pursue one.

• iPhone / iPad: request at reportaproblem.apple.com.

• Android: request through your Google Play order history, or Google’s refund request form.

If you cancel, you keep PRO until the end of the period you have already paid for; cancelling part-way through a period does not create a partial refund. Consumer law in your country may give you additional rights — for example a statutory cooling-off period in the EU and UK — and those rights always take precedence over this policy.

If something genuinely went wrong — a duplicate charge, a subscription you did not intend, or PRO that never activated — email support@pipwords.site. We would rather help you sort it out than leave you feeling cheated.
