PipWords Support
PipWords Support: Camera, Subscriptions & Contact
Help for PipWords: AI Word Camera — camera and recognition problems, PRO and billing, languages, and how to reach a real person. Written and answered by the developer.
How billing works here: PipWords uses Apple’s and Google’s official billing. We never see your card details, and you cancel any time from your phone’s own settings — no email required, no retention maze.
Fix the five most common problems
- The camera will not open. PipWords needs camera permission. iPhone: Settings → PipWords → turn on Camera. Android: Settings → Apps → PipWords → Permissions → Camera → Allow. Then close the app fully and reopen it.
- The AI named the wrong object. Move closer so one object fills most of the frame, add light, and photograph one thing at a time. Dark or crowded photos cause nearly every wrong word.
- Recognition is slow or times out. Naming an object needs an internet connection, because the recognition runs on a server. Cards you already collected stay available offline in your museum.
- No sound on the pronunciation. Check volume and the iPhone silent switch. Pronunciation uses the voices installed on your own device, so install or update that language’s voice in Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content (iPhone) or Text-to-speech output (Android).
- I paid but PRO is not active. Open the Grown-up Zone and tap Restore Purchases, signed in to the same Apple or Google account that bought it. If it still does not appear, email us with the store and approximate date.
FAQ: PipWords support
How do I contact support?
Email support@pipwords.site. Replies usually arrive within 2 business days. To get a faster answer, include your device (for example “iPhone 13, iOS 18”), what you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot or screen recording helps enormously.
What is included free, and what does PRO add?
PipWords is free to download and free to use every day: a set number of camera captures each day (currently 5), part of the daily quest trail, and your first boss fight. PipWords PRO opens the whole adventure — every land on the quest road, every boss, all mini-games, the full quest trail, lessons and bedtime stories. Prices appear in the app in your own currency before you confirm anything.
How do I cancel? Will I be charged after the free trial?
A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends — including at the end of a free trial (currently 3 days). You cancel in your own store account, not through us:
- iPhone / iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → PipWords → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → PipWords → Cancel.
Cancelling stops future renewals and you keep PRO until the end of the period you already paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Apple and Google process the payment, so they handle refunds. On iPhone use reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android use your Play Store order history. If a charge looks wrong, email us too and we will help you follow it up. Full details are in our Refund Policy.
How do I change the app language or the translation language?
Both are in the Grown-up Zone. You can set the interface language (12 available, including Arabic with full right-to-left layout, Spanish and Portuguese) and the language your word translations appear in (17 available). Changing the interface language may ask you to restart the app so the layout redraws correctly.
What happens to the photos my child takes?
To name an object, the photo is sent to the AI services that identify it and cut it out of its background. We do not keep a photo gallery on our servers, we show no ads, and we sell no personal data. When you share a word card, only the cut-out object is included — never the original photo or the room behind it. Full detail, including which providers are involved, is in our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete our data?
Your words, progress and Pip live on your own device, so deleting the app removes them. To also remove your anonymous leaderboard entry from our server, email support@pipwords.site and ask for deletion. No account or proof of identity is needed, because the entry holds no personal details.
Is the leaderboard safe for children? Can we be removed from it?
It is anonymous: it shows an automatically generated nickname such as “Clever Dolphin”, a level and an XP total. No real name, email, photo or location is ever sent, and there is no chat or messaging anywhere in PipWords. Email us if you would like your entry removed.
Can two children share one phone?
PipWords currently keeps one collection and one Pip per device — separate profiles do not exist yet. Two children can play together, but words and progress are shared. If this matters to your family, email us; it helps decide what gets built next.
I lost my words after changing phones
Because PipWords works without an account, your collection is stored on the device itself and does not transfer automatically to a new phone. Your PRO subscription does transfer — reinstall and tap Restore Purchases. Cloud backup of collections is on the roadmap; if you have just switched devices, email us before deleting the old one.
The app crashed or froze
Close it fully and reopen, then check for an app update in your store and an OS update on the device. If it happens repeatedly, email us with your device model, OS version and what you were doing at the time — that report is genuinely what gets bugs fixed.
Do you have a suggestion box?
Yes — the same email. PipWords is built by one parent-developer, and several features exist because a family wrote in and asked for them. New words, new object categories and new languages are all worth requesting.
Still stuck?
PipWords is made by one independent developer — a parent building for their own children. No call centre, no chatbot: your email comes straight to me.
